Managing Bad Language Filters

Word Filters

The bad language filter allows you to replace words within all user submitted text. Regular expressions are supported for both the search and replace patterns. For example to remove the bad word "dumb" you should use regular expression word boundaries ie "\bdumb\b". This ensures "dumb" is NOT also removed from words such as "dumbell" or "dumbfounded". Alternatively if you don't use word boundaries "dumb" will be replaced with the replace pattern at all occurrences.

The bad language filter can be completely disabled within a permission set. Filters are NOT case-sensitive. To manage bad language filters go to Word Filters » Bad Language Filters. This will present the various bad language filter options as shown below...

From this page you can add new bad language filters, edit or delete existing bad language filters or import & export bad language filters.
